Offscreen Expeditions

Offscreen Expeditions draws on the talent and expertise of a team from a number of organisations. They mix experience in education, expeditions, art, design and technology.

 

Chris, Web Designer

Chris is a founding partner of East London design collective, One Darnley Road. He leads an innovative web design team with a diverse, global client base. Born in Dublin, he relocated to London after receiving a BA in Design communications in 2001 and has been working within the web industry for over 9 years. Chris has been part of the Offscreen team since its inception in 2007 and helping it evolve has been one of his greatest passions.

Greg, Filmmaker & Director

Greg is co-founder and Creative Director of Bold Creative, the adventurous creative agency that works with the hardest to reach young people, harnessing incredible stories and experiences to educate, inspire and unlock potential. When he's not working with the team to create award winning films and digital content, his adventures take him all over the world. He's currently in training for a three month cycle honeymoon across South America.

Hazel, Producer

Hazel is a Producer at Just So Films, the production partner for the Offscreen 2010 Journey to Pakistan series. Just So specialise in conceiving and producing creative content and short films for digital platforms. Hazel also runs Just So Collective, a growing network of filmmakers and creatives, bringing together talented individuals and putting exciting film projects into production.


Jamie, Expedition Leader & Director

Jamie is the founder of Digital Explorer and an educator and expedition leader. He was part of the government’s Fast Track Teacher programme after receiving his PGCE and was appointed Head of Citizenship at Eastbury Comprehensive, before leading on multimedia approaches to learning at London’s largest comprehensive. He currently sits on the Council of the Royal Geographical Society.

John, Web Developer

A founding partner at One Darnley Road, John leads the development team in building award-winning, cutting-edge websites. He has been coding since the browser wars of the late 90s, and in 2005 moved to London from Virginia, USA to obtain a Masters in Internet application development, with a focus on web standards and social media.

Kate, Project Coordinator

Kate is a British artist with Moroccan-Kuwaiti roots. In 2007. she graduated with a BA from Oxford University and since been working on cross-cultural art projects and exhibiting her work internationally. She joined Offscreen last year as a project coordinator for the Adobe Youth Voices programme and more recently, for the Offscreen Expedition from the Middle East to the UK.

Martin, Director

Martin is the Managing Director and co-founder of Bold Creative. He is an entrepreneur with relentless energy and passion for innovation. Martin has consistently broken new ground in education and media to solve the big social issues facing young people today, from child poverty to bullying, crime and health.

Oliver, Filmmaker

Oliver is directing the Offscreen 2010 Journey to Pakistan series. He is a freelance journalist and documentary-maker, based in London but with a special interest in Afghanistan and the surrounding region. He recently directed the film Kabul at Work for Al Jazeera. His work has also appeared in the likes of The New York Times, Granta and The Times. He likes meeting people, stories and adventures.

Sarah, Project Coordinator

Sarah rejoined the Offscreen team last year as Expeditions co-ordinator. Having graduated from SOAS in 2008 in Arabic and Social Anthropology, her main interests encompass the interaction of different beliefs and the power of creativity and the imagination. She has worked on both the expeditions last year, Journey to the UK and Journey to Pakistan; Create & Inspire Journey to the UK 2011 is her third Offscreen expedition. 

Stephen, Director

Stephen is an artist, teacher and social entrepreneur working predominantly between the UK and Middle East. He has a degree in art and philosophy from the University of Brighton and a PGCE in art education from the University of London. He is the founder of the Offscreen Education Programme and Edge of Arabia, two social enterprises working to improve cultural relations between the Middle East and western world. 

Tahira, Programmes Manager

Tahira joined Offscreen in 2008 as Programme Manager and has since been working on cross cultural educational and art projects. She grew up in Saudi Arabia and has a degree in International Relations from the University of Leeds.

Tony, Filmmaker

Tony has directed some of Bold Creative's most engaging films, working alongside young people to create engaging, honest and inspirational content. Passionate about short form and the beauty of storytelling and at ease behind the lens or in the edit suite, his relaxed style helps young people feel comfortable when discussing some of the most challenging issues. In his spare time Tony enjoys bopping around the east end of London soaking up the creative and diverse culture.
