Filmmaker

Filmmaker Imran, 18, from Hodge Hill in Birmingham is currently doing A Levels in sociology, psychology and philosophy and ethics. Alongside his studies, he is helping to make a difference in his community– he has been a Young People’s representative since 2006, first for Hodge Hill ward and now Birmingham City Council. He is also a volunteer and member of Compaact, a community group which works to improve the quality of life for residents of Hodge Hill – one of the most deprived constituencies in the UK. Imran heard about Offscreen after getting involved in July’s expedition through Compaact. The Pakistan trip will be his first visit to South Asia, he’s looking forward to honing his filmmaking skills and is excited to meet young Pakistanis and see they can swap ideas which will work in his constituency. He hopes to come back re-energised to make a difference in his own community.
